Cedar: An unexpected discovery

I didn't expect much from my experiment with cedar. I had a mini-batch of the wood lying around for a year and a half, apparently unsightly.
One day, when I decided to take it apart, I added a few test sticks of cedar. And it was a real discovery!


Atlas cedar: it excites my senses. This fragrance makes me listen deeper, longer and more often. The fresh green notes, the dynamic and wise wood make it unique among all the woods I've had the pleasure of working with. The energy and dynamism of the fragrance is truly outstanding.

Unique: You won't find such a rich, bitter green woody note anywhere else. This fragrance transports me to the sun-dried mountains, where the dry cool breeze brings the scent of a distant cedar forest.

It is a mighty evergreen tree that can reach 40 metres in height.
Cedar wood is valued for its strength, resistance to decay and pests, making it a reliable material for construction and furniture making.

Aomori Hiba Incense

The incense made with Hiba invites you to enjoy a moment of tranquility and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of a traditional Japanese garden, where each element is imbued with meaning and beauty.

Traditionally, Hiba wood has been used in Japan for constructing temples, shrines, and traditional Japanese houses, as well as for making various interior items and accessories valued for their beauty, durability, and ability to improve indoor air quality.

Hiba boasts a clear and exceptionally unique fragrance, an embodiment of the softness of pine, the sweetness of wood, and the freshness of dough, all enveloped by a Japanese forest. It harbors something elusive that stirs the senses, adding uniqueness and indescribability to the experience. I find it intriguingly incomprehensible, which piques my curiosity.
Listening to this scent on a cloudy, rainy day feels like being transported to the northern forests of Japan, the home of this magnificent tree. It’s as if you are transferred to the distant forests of Japan, where each breath is filled with peace and freshness.

Hiba, also known as Asunaro or Japanese cypress thuja, is a tree distinguished by its rarity and value in Japan.
Traditionally, Hiba wood is used in Japan for constructing temples, shrines, and traditional Japanese houses, as well as for making various interior items and accessories valued for their beauty, durability, and ability to improve indoor air quality.
Growing mainly in the northern regions of the country, the Hiba tree can reach up to 35 meters in height. Its wood is prized for its strength, resistance to decay and moisture, and the ability to release phytoncides that purify the air and have antibacterial properties.

Hinoki: The Northern "Sandalwood"

Incense made from Taiwanese Hinoki wood represents the perfect balance between the freshness of coniferous scents and the creamy delicacy of sandalwood, akin to a "northern sandalwood".
Fragrance: Rich notes of lemon and pine merge with a creamy-powdery softness, creating a unique coniferous sandalwood.

Characteristics: Soft and light, tender, with a rich creaminess, refreshing, delicately woody. The fragrance is filled with bright, calm joy and harmony, where each note finds its perfect place.

Impression: Juicy green woodiness transitions to creamy powderyness, enveloping the space. This scent slowly waltzes around the room, gently altering images and moods.

Distinctiveness: Refined, elegant, and delicate. These incenses create an ambient atmosphere, delicately and unobtrusively filling the room with a subtle ambiance. They do not seek to capture all attention but elegantly and refinedly set the mood.

Often referred to the species Chamaecyparis formosensis, also known as the Taiwanese Cypress, which is unique to the region of Taiwan. This species of tree is valued for its beautiful, fragrant wood, possessing a number of outstanding properties.
The Taiwanese Cypress grows in the mountainous areas of Taiwan at altitudes of 1300 to 2800 meters above sea level. These trees can reach impressive sizes, growing up to 50 meters in height with a trunk diameter of up to 3 meters.
The Taiwanese Cypress is prized not only for its beauty and fragrance but also for its cultural significance, representing an important part of Taiwanese natural and cultural heritage.
